48 weapons, drugs seized
Police have seized 48 unregistered weapons, as well as an assortment of illegal drugs and tobacco near Sussex.
Corporal Phil Oliver tells the Maritime News Network that the District 3 Plain Clothes Unit, with the assistance of the Saint John Police Force Police Service Dog Section, Saint John RCMP Drug Section, and uniformed RCMP officers from Sussex and Hampton, executed a search warrant Wednesday in Marrtown.
They seized 48 rifles and shotguns, an assortment of illegal drugs, cash, and tobacco products including Cocaine, Viagra and Ecstasy. 334 cartons of cigarettes and 156 bags of tobacco were also taken.
A 60 year old man was arrested and released pending Federal Crown approval for the drug charges. He has a court date set for mid August to answer to several pending charges under the Criminal Code, Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, and Excise Act.
